NEW ERA COMMITS $25K TO BRIAN’S LOCKER

Resources to Provide Support to Families Fighting Pediatric Cancer

and Expand Reach of Program

ORCHARD PARK, NEW YORK- Making an important investment in the mission of Brian Moorman’s P.U.N.T. Foundation to help local families fighting childhood cancer, New Era has become the exclusive sponsor of the Brian’s Locker program. Their $25,000 commitment will allow the program to flourish and expand its impact beyond Roswell Park Cancer Institute to also serve families being treated at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.

Since 2004, Brian’s Locker has served as a mechanism to provide families in pediatric cancer treatment with gas cards, grocery cards and other essential items to help make the patients’ hospital stay as comfortable as possible. The sole locker has previously resided in the pediatric waiting room at Roswell but the New Era partnership has enabled the creation of an additional locker for the oncology floor of Children’s Hospital, where children under the age of six seek treatment. Both lockers will serve as vehicles of distribution for gas, grocery and restaurant cards, toiletry bags and entertainment tickets to improve the quality of life for families in treatment. New Era has also provided iPad minis, P.U.N.T. Foundation and pediatric cancer awareness caps and additional resources which will be designated to families based on specific needs at both hospitals.

“New Era’s tremendous partnership for our Locker program will provide direct, invaluable support to local families who are in the midst of an incomprehensibly difficult passage,” said Foundation founder and NFL punter Brian Moorman. “We are deeply grateful for New Era’s generous investment and for empowering us to ‘be there’ for even more kids. Many households lose an income after a child is diagnosed since one parent will stop working to be with their child during treatment; they also often make several trips each week to the hospital, some coming from great distances. We continually see how meaningful the assistance offered through our Locker program has been to families.”

A two-time Pro Bowl punter, Moorman played for the Buffalo Bills from 2001-2012 and was with the Dallas Cowboys through the end the 2012-2013 season. Moorman has always made it a priority to use his stature as a professional athlete for a greater good and is committed to keeping the foundation, which he and his wife Amber established shortly after coming to the region, in Western New York.

“We are so grateful to New Era for providing the funds to bring Brian Moorman's P.U.N.T. Foundation Locker to Women & Children's Hospital,” said Joanne Lana, Executive Director of Stone’s Buddies which identifies ways to supports chronically ill children. “A typical day for an oncology patient tends to be filled with treatments, tests and procedures. A trip to the Locker will provide a much needed boost for these children who struggle on a daily basis."
